Here is a map that shows infant mortality rates for various areas within San Diego. The map can be considered propaganda as it relates the mortality rates to mortality rates in other countries, some of which are developing. This is an isoline map of the island of Maui. It uses contour lines to show elevation as well as rainfall amounts at those elevations. The thicker the line, the higher the rainfall totals. This is a mental map depicting the Los Angeles area. The map shows which area of the city are seen as most dangerous to residents. The map was created by a Professor at Purdue University, Sorin Matei. Interviews were conducted with people in six ethnically diverse neighborhoods to find out where these people felt the least safe. The darkest shades indicate the areas with the most perceived danger while the lighter areas are considered safer.
